Study Title: MSc in Computer Engineering (2006) and PhD in Information Engineering (2010) from the University of Pisa.

Full Story:  At present, I work in the R&D division at ARM, Ltd, a leading company for the development of microprocessors and other digital components, used as basic building blocks in a wide variety of embedded systems and high-technology products like mobile phones, smartphones, tablets, and smart TVs.
The main activity of my group relies in developing technologies for next-generation CPUs and GPUs, so to guarantee the leadership of the company in the embedded and mobile markets, as well as to target the new fields of HPC and servers.
My career in research started with a thesis work on computer architecture themes; then, after graduation, I decided to pursue a PhD addressing the same type of technological topics. During my PhD activity, thanks to the participation to international research projects/initiatives, I had the opportunity to get in contact with ARM with a short-term internship. Later, I become a permanent employee in the same company, even before my final PhD defense.
My overall judgement on the courses at the University of Pisa is unquestionably positive. On my side, all went as I might expect: I succeeded in quickly finding a job I am fond of, despite the current economical crisis. Moreover, so far my education has turned to be really useful, and it let me integrate in the industrial setting with no significant effort. In particular, the typical wide-range training of the Master of Science in Computer Engineering is extremely valuable (even if I must admit that I fully realized this only after my graduation!), and it has been appreciated by the colleagues I've met. Mostly, in my professional path I must recognize the important role played by co-workers and teachers at the University of Pisa.
